The slow down yard sign campaigns allow residents of neighborhoods with speeding problems to participate in reminding drivers to slow down. Neighborhood leaders, safety advocates and law enforcement officials work in partnership to identify problem areas, recruit residents to post yard signs, garner media attention and evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign. Signs will contain a message such as “Slow Down”, will be provided to neighborhood groups. The signs will be placed in participating citizens yards during the campaign. This campaign may be conducted along with other speed enforcement efforts such as the use of speed radar trailers and directed enforcement.

It will be the responsibility of the neighborhood group and the residents to place the signs in the yards of citizens who wish to participate. It is also the responsibility of the neighborhood group to collect all signs at the end of the program and return them to the Traffic Unit.
