Volunteers provide a vital service to the Police Department and the City of St. Joseph. They bring needed skills and fresh insight in assisting with everyday operations. You can gain valuable training and learn about your Police Department from the inside. We have flexible hours to accommodate your schedule.

Volunteers patrol our “hike and bike” trails to help create a safe environment for citizens to exercise and relax.

Our chaplains are volunteers and are there to offer comfort to those in difficult times and to assist the officers in more tragic circumstances, such as death notifications.

All volunteers go through a background investigation which will include an interview process, as well as a fingerprint check.

The Police Department will provide you with the necessary training and equipment and work with you to make your valuable time worthwhile.

For more information contact the Police Support Services Division at 816-271-4882 or 816-236-1473.
